Our Vision & Mission

Safe N’ Happy Periods hopes to encourage a shame-free, dignified and sustainable menstruation time for women in India. We use a combined approach of education and pad distribution, to spread awareness and increased access to sanitation.

We are glad to spread this message amongst girls and women of different age groups across various sections of the society. We can imagine the extent of reach presuming that these girls and women, in some way or the other, would share and pass on the hygiene habits and other useful information to their friends, family members etc.

All the donations towards Safe N’ Happy Periods are eligible for 50% Income Tax exemption (under Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act).

AMODINI FOUNDATION (under which Safe N’ Happy Periods operates), having Registration No. E 11500/Thane, is a Charitable Trust registered in India having a 12AA & 80 G Certification.

Why we choose to work on this?

A girl in India faces many challenges. Especially when they grow into young adults, as current views on menstruation and the lack of proper education on this topic creates a burden for their daily lives.

We believe that if the girl is well informed about the menstruation progress and hygiene at the right age, and if we manage to remove misconceptions from her mind as well from those surrounding here, she will be able to handle the emotional trauma and stigma of shamefulness as she begins her journey as a young women. Also, she will be able to face the hormonal changes in her body with awareness and confidence.

We feel that spreading awareness and educating girls, their families and society can significantly reduce the burden on young girl adults: allowing them to focus on living healthier lives and accomplishing their goals.

Furthermore, a well-informed girl will surely and confidently speak to her mother or sisters about correct menstrual hygiene practices and will help to eliminate wrong and unhealthy practices most women in lower socio-economic sections have been adopting for generations. Self-aware and empowered women will pave the way for building a healthier society.

–  The toxic culture of shame, discrimination and superstition is carried to the next generation.

–  Shame or lack of education means that many women do not seek medical advice.
